GLUTEN-FREE POLICY

At The Garioch Fish Bar, we take allergens seriously and understand the importance of preventing gluten exposure for those with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance. Even tiny traces of gluten can cause adverse effects, which is why we take careful measures to minimise any risk of cross-contact.

We offer a carefully selected gluten-free menu, made to order and prepared with strict procedures in place. Our gluten-free options include:

  • Freshly battered haddock
  • Chicken breast strips
  • Halloumi
  • Smoked sausages
  • Onion rings

All gluten-free items are cooked in a dedicated fryer, which is used exclusively for gluten-free food. This fryer has its own oil that is never shared or filtered with oil from gluten-containing products. Our chips are also cooked separately to avoid any contamination.

TO FURTHER REDUCE THE RISK OF CROSS-CONTACT

  • We use separate, colour-coded utensils designated solely for gluten-free preparation.
  • Our gluten-free batter is stored in a clearly labelled and sealed container, away from standard batters.
  • Surfaces and equipment are cleaned thoroughly before preparing gluten-free orders.
  • We have team members who are trained and qualified in allergen management, ensuring our procedures are followed correctly and consistently.
  • We've also visited the factory where our gluten-free batter is produced and were thoroughly impressed by their high standards and attention to allergen safety throughout the production process.
  • Our homemade mushy peas, tartare sauce, and gluten-free vinegar are also gluten-free — so you can enjoy a proper fish supper with confidence.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Although we follow strict guidelines and have dedicated equipment and procedures in place, our kitchen handles gluten-containing ingredients, and we operate in a busy environment. There may be trace levels of gluten in the air or on shared surfaces, and some of our ingredients are supplied by third-party manufacturers. As such, while we do everything possible to prevent contamination, we cannot guarantee that our gluten-free products are 100% free from gluten.
